Ancient Settlement Found in Russky Island

In the course of bridge construction works at Pospelov Cape of the Russky Island in the Maritime Territory, an ancient settlement site dating to the early Iron Age has been found.

Archeologists have discovered numerous artifacts on the site: piles of shells, fragments of chinaware, and various handicraft works of bone and stone, including fishhooks and harpoons.

The finds belong in Yankovsky archeological culture. The archeological works are planned to be completed as soon as possible, within two next weeks, so that the builders could continue raising the bridge over Eastern Bosporus to connect Russky Island with Nazimov Peninsula in Vladivostok.
