Retrospective of Oscar Rabine Opens in Moscow

The Tretyakov Gallery welcomes visitors to the exhibition Oscar Rabine. Three Lives timed to the 80th anniversary since the birth of the classic of Soviet non-conformist art.
      The retrospective has been named after Oscar Rabines autobiographical book published by the artist in Paris in 1986. The exposition to be displayed till 7 December 2008 presents paintings, graphic works and collages by Oscar Rabin. The Russian Museum has issued the exhibition catalogue.
      Oscar Rabin was born in Moscow in 1928. He studied at the Riga Academy of Arts and the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow. A member of the Lianozovo Group, an association of poets and artists formed in the 1950s around Yevgeni Kropivnitsky, he took an active part in the scandalous Bulldozer and Izmailovo Exhibitions.
      Exiled from the USSR, the artist has lived in Paris since 1978.
