The first lunar eclipse, which is to occur today, will be visible from all Russian regions but for the European part of the country. The Altay Territory promises to become the best place to observe the event – the Moon will deep 90% in the Earth’s shadow, reports Itar-Tass news agency.
This is the first and the deepest of four penumbral lunar eclipses expected to occur in 2009. This time the Moon will almost totally be covered by the Earth’s shadow, only a small limb of the Moon will be seen, say specialists.
