19.05.2005 00:00

The State Russian Museum and the Russian centre for museum pedagogic present a social and cultural project Children and Toys designed to facilitate the social adaptation and integration of the orphan children by means of fine arts and creative self-expression (art-therapy).

The project aims to attract orphan asylums of St.-Petersburg to cooperation with the State Russian Museum and encourage creative activities of their fosterlings.
In 2005 the State Russian Museum volunteers developed special art-therapy programs for orphan children of different age and health level. In spring the programs were implemented in St.-Petersburg orphan houses and boarding schools.
Children together with artists and psychologists were engaged in creative work, embracing music and visual arts. They also visited the State Russian Museum.

The project also included the Children and Toyscompetition in making paper toys. The winners of the competitions will participate in the Toys Evening to be held in the Mikhailovsky Palace on May 25. After that the toys will be passed to the St.-Petersburg Toy Museum.
