Underwater Archeologists Salvage 340 Finds from Volkhov River
Veliky Novgorod

More than 340 individual finds have been discovered by local underwater archeologists on the bottom of Volkhov River in Veliky Novgorod.
Among the ancient finds there are numerous copper coins, pendant crosses, signet rings, axes, and sheath handles.
The main target of the Novgorod divers is not finding ancient treasures: they look for piers of an old bridge that once used to connect the Novgorod Kremlin and Yaroslavovo Dvorishe, where Prince Yaroslavl lived.
Archeologists of Veliki Novgorod have been carrying out underwater diggings for several years recently. They have already managed to find a hoarstone of the 12th century, as well as remains of the piles of the Great Bridge that existed in Veliky Novgorod till the 13th century.
