Helmet of Ivan the Terrible Returned to Kremlin

Four centuries past the helmet of Ivan VI the Terrible has been brought back to its historical place, the Armoury in the Moscow Kremlin.

It was returned by the Swedish Livrustkammaren, where the rarity had been kept since 1663.
Supposedly, the helmet was taken away from Moscow to Warsaw during the Polish intervention and then the Swedes transferred it to Stockholm as a war trophy. Yet, that is just a version.

Unknown is also the exact time when the helmet was made. Judging by its size, Tsar Ivan Vasilievich was no older than 12 or 13 then. It was before his coronation yet.

It is the only work of art, which can be explicitly associated with the name of Ivan the Terrible. It is the only item that is historically proved and documented to have belonged to him, - the Director of Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina says.
