Museum of Mechanical Music Instruments to be Open in Moscow

The future Museum of Mechanical Music Instruments will display a private collection gathered by David Yakobashvili.

The Architectural Council of Moscow has assigned an advantageous place for the museum building, which will be on the crossroads of Solyanka Street and Ustyinski Proezd, near the confluence of Yauza and Moskva Rivers. There are marvelous architectural monuments nearby, but the site itself looked somewhat unattractive, boasting just a small public garden and a kebab stall.

In a special hall of the museum visitors will listen to live sounds of music boxes, harmoniums, and clock-ringing mechanisms, and observe dancing dolls. There will be also refined works of bronze and silver, decorated with enamels. Altogether the museum will present over 2 thousand exhibits of the kind starting from the 16th century.
