Carrefour buys Russian supermarket chain

Carrefour Group, the world's second largest retailer in terms of revenues after WalMart, has signed a tentative contract on acquisition of 74.81% in Russian supermarket chain Seventh Continent and 85-99% in Mkapital owning the premises of the company.
      The contract stipulates that the 15th of May, 2009 is the deadline for making a closing offer.
      The Seventh Continent supermarket chain was established in 1994 and now comprises 137 outlets. 74.81% of the company belong to Pakwa Investments Ltd, while the rest is traded at the RTS and MICEX stock exchanges.
