Days of Slavonic culture in Novgorod the Great: folk music, traditional crafts and one conference

From May, 24 till June, 14 in Novgorod take place a set of actions, called The days of Slavonic literature and culture. All the actions are connected with developing a writing system for the Slavonic languages by the brothers Cyril and Methodius monks and scholars in 9th century. The Solun brothers (they came from Thessalonica) were canonized already in the late 9th century like apostles of the Slavs.
      In honor of creating a writing system suitable both for the church service and for the everyday life every year festivals take place in many regions and cities of Russia.
      The program of festive events in Novgorod includes concerts of folk and classical music on the historical subjects (especially of Rakhmaninov), movie screenings, a scientific regional conference devoted to history of booklore in the Ancient Russia, festival of the folk art and traditional crafts Sadko and some exhibitions, between which an exhibition Thousand wise pages, organized by the library for blind and cecutient people.
