Almost 55% of Belarusian inhabitants are against the Russian-Belarusian Union formation. There are 33,5% of adherents of the union with the EU and only 20,4% are eager to see the integration into the Union with Russia. Today the Institute of Strategy Investigations of Belarus (BISS) presented these results. The most part of citizens want to live in the independent state.
According to the Russian Gallup poll results only 25% of the citizens wish the Russian-Belarusian Community, 46% are against this integration.
The draft treaty of the Russian-Belarusian integration provides for a stage-by-stage establishment of a confederation. In the first half of 1997 the draft was written, but it is not realized yet. It is evident that the relations between Russia and Belarus are worse than some years before.
