Monument to First Russian Aeronaut to Appear in Kungur

Grand aeronautic festival Sky Fair of Ural-2009 will be held from June 28 to July 4 in the town of Kungur.

In the framework of the festival Kungur will become a venue for implementation of the first project of aeronauts’ park in Russia.
According to the concept of architect Gennady Sorokin the park will be divided into four zones with lanes, which will meet in its centre. In the very heart of the park there will be a sculpture of the Youth Nikita set up. As a legend says it was a 17-year old serf boy who became the first sky conqueror in Old Russia.

Everything in the park will remind about sky pioneers. Even the lanterns and fence elements will be stylized in the shape of air balloons.
The presentation of the Aeronauts’ Park will take place during the festival.
