1418 candles were lighted up at Poklonnaya Gora yesterday

The 22-th of June is the official Day of Remebrance. On the 22-th of June 1941 German fascist troops attacked the USSR the Great Patriotic War started. At 4 am the piece of news about the War and the nation-wide mobilization was broadcasted all over the country.
      Many people came yesterday to the Victory Park to remember defenders, who won the victory and were killed in 1941-1945. The participants lighted up 1418 candles one for each day of the War. Many singers and pop-groups sang famous songs of the War. Veterans of World War II also sang songs and remembered that day 68 years ago. They said that on the 22-th of June 1941 they did not feel horror, they supposed that the war would be finished soon. No one thought that it would last 4 years and would be the bloodiest war of XX century.
