Ivan Bunin House Museum Robbed in Yelets

74 exhibits have been stolen from the house museum of Ivan Bunin in the Lipetsk Region.
Among the stolen articles there were the writers paraphernalia, such as his razor and pince-nez, his suitcase and candlesticks.
Above all the malefactors, who penetrated into the museum buildings through the window, took some manuscripts. The losses incurred by the museum have been assessed at 500 thousand roubles.
Unofficial sources informed journalists that the alarm had gone off and yet workers of the non-departmental security had not arrived at the site of occurrence.
Ivan Bunin lived in Yelets in his early youth in the 1880s. In those years the future writer studied in Yeletsk gymnasium. The museum in the house where Bunin had lived was open in 1988.
