The Emergencies Ministry of Russia is ready to send two planes to Greece in addition to Mi 26 helicopter, which earlier joined the international team of firefighters.
the massive wildfires raging to the north-east of Athens have already burnt large forest areas and dozens of houses. Thousands of people were evacuated from the risk area.
Russian planes Il 76 and Be 200 are awaiting a signal from the Greek side to take off. In 2007 both planes were also sent to Greece to fight wildfires.
