7th International Scientific Symposium “Applications of Modern Analysis Tools in Cell Structure and Functions Research” takes place in Arkhangelsk North State Medical University June 14-16, 2005.
      The symposium was organized by Swedish-Russian Institute of Cell Biology, a joint project of North State Medical University and Umeo University, Sweden, University Press Service reported. Twenty professors, PhDs and Doctors of Science from Sweden and Russia are going to make presentations during the symposium. Meeting agenda includes discussions of most recent scientific developments, for example interpretation of mechanisms of such diseases as diabetes, central nervous system diseases, chronic lung diseases common on the North of Russian Europe, thyroid and vascular diseases. Fundamental cell research allows developing new therapies for these serious illnesses.
      North State Medical University Histology Department initiated establishing first Center for Extracorporal Fertilization in Arkhangelsk, a unique institution, which had already helped to give birth to 18 babies.
