It has become a tradition to hold “Global Energy” International Energy Award Ceremony in the official residence of the President of Russian Federation in Strelna near Saint Petersburg. This year awardees are Russian Academician Zhores Alferov and Professor Claus Riedle from Germany. The ceremony date is June 17, 2005.
      Many people, Russian officials, famous Russian and foreign scientists, CEOs of Russian and foreign companies and people of art and culture among them, are invited to be ceremony guests. It is the first time young scientists – “Global Energy” Young Scientists’ Program research fellowship contest winners – are going to take part in the ceremony.
      Each awardee will get a diploma, a medal and a banker for a sum, fixed by the Board of Trustees. Energy Award Bonus pool is $1mln for 2005; it will be equally distributed between the awardees.
      The official part of the Ceremony will be followed by the banquet in honour of the awardees and theatrical performance, organized by “Gildiya Masterov”, a well-known crew from Saint Petersburg with Anton Dukhovskoy as the stage director.
      Traditional awardees’ lectures begin today at 11 am in RAS Scientific Educational Center (Saint Petersburg, Khlopina St., 8-3). Awardees’ briefing starts 10 am the same place.
