Writer and Journalist Pyotr Vail Passes Away

On Monday, December 7, writer and journalist Pyotr Vail died at hospital in Prague after a long and hard disease, Radio Freedom reports.
      
      Pyotr Vail had worked in the Russian branch of this radio station from the mid 1980s, and had recently been its editor-in-chief. He died at the age of 60.
      
      Pyotr Vail was born in Riga and studied in the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. In 1977 he moved to the USA and started working in local emigrant editions. Initially he cooperated with the New York office of the Radio Freedom, and later with its Russian branch. From 1995 he lived in Prague.
