Today Russians are celebrating Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. On this day 14 years ago, the heads of the two states signed the treaty establishing the community, which was based on the principles of sovereignty and equality. A year later the leaders of the countries signed a treaty on the Union of Russia and Belarus.
President of Belarus has congratulated Belorussian and Russian citizens with this holiday. In his speech he stressed the States need to join efforts in the political, economic and social spheres. Then the union of the two countries will be able to take their worthy place in the world.
More than that, the President of Belarus has emphasized that the Day of unity has become the embodiment of all the hopes of both peoples, and expressed their political will. Lukashenko has also acknowledged that the integration process has not been and will not be easy.
