Olga Borodina is the winner of numerous prestigious all-Union and  international competitions. Among them is the Rosa Ponselle Vocal Contest (New York) and the International Francisco Viñas Competition (Barcelona), the victory at which gained her critical acclaim in Europe and the United States. Her debut in the Covent Garden Royal Opera House (Samson and Delilah, 1992) also contributed to the international fame of Olga Borodina. Following it the singer has taken her well-deserved place among the most prominent opera singers of our time, and performed on the stages of all the world's major theaters.
Olga Borodina was born in Leningrad on July 29, 1963. She studied under the renowned solo opera singer Irina Bogacheva at the Leningrad Conservatory. In 1986 she became the winner of the All-Russian Vocal Contest and a year later took part in the 12th  All-Union Glinka Competition among Junior Vocalists  and took the first prize.
Since 1987 she has performed at the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre. The debut role at the theater was that of Siebel in Charles Gounod's opera Faust.
Later Olga Borodina sang the parts of  Marfa in Mussorgsky's Khovanshchina, Lyubasha in The Tsar's Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov, Olga in Eugene Onegin, Pauline and Milovzor in The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky, Konchakovna in Prince Igor by Borodin, Hélène Kuragina in The War and Peace by Prokofiev, and Marina Mniszek in Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky at the Mariinsky Theater.
Since the early 1990s, Olga Borodina  has been in great demand on the stages of the world's best theaters and worked with outstanding conductors of our time, such as Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Colin Davis, Claudio Abbado, Nicolaus Harnoncourt, and James Levine.
The signer has three sons: Alexey, Maxim, and Vladimir; and one daughter, Alexandra.
