Vladimir Abramovich Bunchikov was born on 21 November 1902 in Yekaterinoslav. He lived in Simferopol and worked as a sceneshifter in a drama theatre. When serving the army he became the directing singer.

He finished Musical technical school in Dnepropetrovsk and continued his studies in Leningrad. He became a soloist of the Worker’s Opera in Dnepropetrovsk in 1929 and of the Moscow Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in 1931.

From 1934 he made gramophone recordings with V.Kandelaki's jazz, V.Knushevitsky’s variety orchestra, B.Aleksandrov’s Song Ensemble of All-Union Radio. His repertoire included songs by Soviet composers.

In 1942 — 1967 he was the soloist of the All-Union Radio.

Bunchikov performed many songs in duet with Vladimir Nechaev, who he had met during the war. The fortunate combination of two voices — Bunchikov’s lyrical baritone and Nechaev’s tenor — enriched their vocal palette and strengthened their emotional impact on the audience. The duet performed for over a quarter of the century, and produced a number of popular songs, such as V.Solovyov-Sedoy’s «Evening in the roads», N.Bogoslovsky’s "Rain" and «You and I, and we together», etc.

In 1944 Bunchikov was conferred the title of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

Vladimir Bunchikov died on 17 March 1995.
