 Grigory Perelman


Born:   June 13, 1966

Outstanding Russian mathematician, Ph.D. in Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

      

Grigory Perelman is the author of the Poincare theorem proving - one of the fundamental challenges in mathematics. He worked in the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) office of Steklov Mathematical Institute and taught in a number of universities of the USA. Since 2003 he has not been working and has been almost avoiding communication with strangers. In March, 2010 the Clay Mathematics Institute awarded Grigory Perelman an award of one million US dollars for the proof of Poincare hypothesis, however, the scientist forwent the award.
