Suffering from congenital amaurosis, i.e. complete blindness since his birth, Oleg Akkuratov is a universally acclaimed music prodigy. He has outstanding music capabilities, such as perfect ear, infallible musical memory, and perfect timekeeping.
At the age of four Oleg manifested his music talents by playing on the piano the melodies he just heard. At school he was taught to read Braille music.
Having finished a music college in 2008, Oleg entered the Variety and Jazz Department of the Music Institute at the Moscow Culture and Arts University. Unfortunately he could not continue his education in the Moscow Conservatory as it turned to be nearly impossible for a blind person without assistance. During his studies Oleg participated in concerts and won a range of music competitions, including international ones.
He is a virtuoso piano performer of jazz and classical compositions. Oleg can sing in English and German, having learned the languages on his own by listening to songs. Having heard a melody, for example on the radio, he can play it on the piano from memory. The music prodigy is fond of poetry and knows many verses by heart.
Oleg Akkuratov took part in concerts with the outstanding opera singer Montserat Caballe, the English musician Eveleen Glenni and English conductor Martin Brabbins. He was a memeber of the World UNESCO Combined Chorus and participated in a concert in the Pope's residence in Rome.
The young pianist participates in charity concerts worldwide, including the charity event Thousands of Cities of the World. Oleg Akkuratov came to be the prototype of the hero in the film Motley Twilight (2009) directed by the merited actress Lyudmila Gurchenko.
The musician participated in the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games Sochi 2014.
