 Moisey  Feygin


Russian artist, member of the Jack of Diamond art group

      

Moisey Aleksandrovich Feygin was born in Warsaw on November 23, 1904. In 1914 his family moved to Moscow. In 1914-1917 he studied at the 13th Moscow grammar school. In 1917-1920 he studied at School 117 in Moscow. From the age of 10 the boy studied drawing under the artist A.E. Miganadjian. 



From 1921 to 1927 Moisey Feygin studied in VKhUTEMAS (the Higher Art and Technical Studios) under Shemyakin, Popova, Mashkov, and Osmerkin. He joined the Being association in 1926, left it in 1927 and became a member of the Wing art group. In 1928 he joined the Moscow Artists Society. In 1928-1929 he was called up for the Red Army military service and enrolled in the cavalry. In 1942 he volunteered to the Great Patriotic War. From 1942 to 1945 he served in a replacement regiment.

Everything that happened in the country had a great impact on the artist’s life and works. It was true about his service in the Red Army, canceling of the New Economic Policy, repressions of the 1930s and the Great Patriotic War.

The last exhibition of Moisey Feygin took place in the Central House of Artist in Moscow from April 27 to May 10, 2007. In this regard Moisey Feygin was registered in the Guinness Book of Records in February, 2008 as “The world’s oldest working professional artist”.
