For some time Dmitry Glukhovsky lived in Israel, where he studied, and worked as a correspondent. Later he worked in a number of countries, including France, Germany, and even Abkhazia. Among his work merits one can mention the status of a Kremlin pool correspondent on the channels Euronews and Russia Today, work on Radio Russia and participation in the TV radio project Deutsche Welle. Dmitry Glukhovsky gained international popularity as a web writer with his post-apocalyptic novel Metro 2033. After publishers’ refusal to publish his debut book the author posted it on his Live Journal and in a few large-scale online libraries, one chapter after another.

Afterwards Dmitry Glukhovsky wrote and posted on the web other books, such as Stories about Animals, The Night (collection), and the play Infinita Tristessa.

In 2007 the writer published his new novel under the title Twilight. At first sight it seems to be a thriller but is a mystic novel replete with metaphors.

Metro 2035 was completed in 2015.
