Maxim Konchalovsky is a well-known pianist and artist, the author of over twenty concert programs that synthesize painting, poetry, and music into uniform stage performances, as well as more than 40 television movies.
Talented and versatily gifted person, a grandnephew to the famous Russian artist Pyotr Konchalovsky (1876-1956), Maxim went in for fine arts from very early childhood.
Since childhood he showed interest both in music, poetry, and painting. But after graduation from the Moscow Conservatory in 1964, everything went as usual, it seemed: solo piani performances and participation in ensemble concerts.
However, inclusiveness of interests worked: in the early 1970s Maxim Konchalovsky prepared the first composition "French Impressionism". It brought together music by Debussy, poetry by Verlaine, Mallarmé, and  Rimbaud, and painting by Claude Monet. The audience's attention and accolades convinced the artist that his approach was right. Soon both Muscovites, and residents of other cities had an opportunity to enjoy Maxim Konchalovsky's new programs created at the confluence of arts. A free manner of stage behavior, light staging, and short comments - all that promoted the performer's contact with the audience. It is difficult to overestimate educational value of his synergetic compositions, such as "Bach - Michelangelo", "Beethoven - Rodin - Rilke", "Vrubel - Blok - Scriabin", "Gauguin - Baudelaire - Ravel", "Prokofiev and Old  Russia", "Old Paris", "Stravinsky - Picasso and their contemporaries", "The House of a Poet" (about Maksimilian Voloshin's house in Koktebel). Such concert specifics naturally brought Maxim Konchalovsky onto the TV screen, because his programs are extremely "telegenic".
The lack of cultural activities and artistic taste in general observed in Russia of the mid-1980s prompted Maxim Konchalovsky's decision to establish a higher educational institution that was essentially new for Russia in its  training system. The Art Creativity Institute was founded under the Academy of Fine Arts in 1993 and headed by the art pianist.
Paintings by Maxim Konchalovsky are kept in private collections of Russia, France, Germany, and the USA.
