Dmitry Krylov, the host of the Russian travel TV programme called Neputevye Zametki, was born on the 29th of 1946. He was born in the Far East, on a boat during a sea storm. Dmitry graduated from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts (the faculty of show direction) and later worked as director’s assistant and as director in the cinema hall “Russia”. In the 1980`s He worked as a teacher in the State Institute of Theatrical Arts.

Since 1983 Dmitry Krylov has been working for the central television. As a director he shot several series of the programme Utrennyaya Pochta (translated as Morning Post), then he worked as editor for the department of entertainment programmes of the Literature-drama editorial of the central television.

In 1986-1991 Dmitry worked as the author, director, and host of the programme Sputnik Telezritelya (TV-viewer’s Sputnik). In 1991 he visited the USA and Great Britain where he shot a documentary TV series with the name Neputevye Zametki telling about life of the citizens in the countries he travelled to. Since that time Dmitry has been the author, director, projectionist, and the host of the cycle of TV programmes Neputevye Zametki. In 1993-1996 Dmitry Krylov also was the host of the programme Telescope devoted to television life and image of TV hosts.

However, the majority of Russian TV-viewers associate Dmitry with the programme Neputevye Zametki. This authorial programme appeared on the 1st channel of the central television at the beginning of 1991. The first 4-series film was called Neputevye Zametki from London with Love and at once attracted attention of the audience on the back of semi-official international journalism of those times. TV audience liked the subjective and impartial author’s outlook on western life, sometimes shown artlessly, sometimes ironically. Besides, the author did not pretend to be an expert of the life abroad, this is why it created an illusion that TV-viewers open the closed sides of life without anyone’s help.

After the series about London Dmitry shot some series about Berlin, the Mediterranean cruises coastal cities, and countries – Istanbul, Athens, Malta, Venice, Barcelona, Rome, Naples, Genoa, Nice, Sicily. Then it was a start of the author’s “American” period – a 12-series film called Trip with Sonya in search of America (South Florida, New-York, and Boston).

A film about Denmark attracted special attention of TV audience: apart from the author’s outlook on the country there was also represented an outlook of his 6 year old son Mitya. Afterwards Dmitry Krylov used this joker several times by telling about a trip to Greek islands, to Disney World in Orlando, and about a Caribbean cruise.

Since the beginning of 1996 the series Neputevye Zametki has been shown on TV every Sunday at 10.10am. The crew of the programme has been to various places of the planet in 2002 they reached the North Pole. Neputevye Zametki can deservedly be called a TV-guide to countries and continents. The kind and ironical atmosphere of the series has become a key of success of these rather short (30 minutes) episodes.
