Russian virtuoso pianist  and music public figure. People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2011) and a winner of the State Award of the Russian Federation (2009).
In 2004 Denis Matsuyev organized the international music festival Stars on Baikal, which has been annually held in Irkutsk ever since.
He is the art director of the young musicians' competition Crescendo held since 2003.
In his native city of Irkutsk he founded a concert hall named Denis Matsuyev Music House. The city does not forget about Denis Matsuyev either: in 2001 to the musician was confirred the rank of Honorary Dweller of Irkutstk.
