Andrei Vadimovich Makarevich (born on 11 December, 1954, Moscow) is a People’s Artist of Russia, singer, songwriter, writer, artist, producer, TV host, and leader of the famous rock-band Mashina Vremeni (Time Machine). Andrei was born in Moscow in 1953. As a schoolboy he founded the ensemble The Kids that performed covers of foreign songs. The first public concert of the ensemble took part in 1968. When studying in Moscow Architectural Institute he went on his music activity with the band that came to be called Mashina Vremeni (Time Machine). He graduated in 1977 as a certified graphic artist. He is the main author of the band’s lyrics, as well as the composer and performer of majority of the band’s songs. After the first prize for performance at the music festival in Tallinn in 1976 the band acquired wider fame and popularity. In 2002 Andrei Makarevich organized the project “Creole Tango Orchestra” uniting musicians from various groups and playing jazz, blues, bossa-nova, rumba and chanson.
