Yulia Samoylova will represent Russia at the EuroVision 2017 song contest in Kiev, Ukraine. She will sing the song "Flame Is Burning".
Yulia Samoylova was born in the city of Ukhta in the Komi Republic of the Russian Federation. At the age of 13, after an inept poliomyelitis vaccination the girl found herself handicapped. Since then Yulia Samoylova has been wheelchair-bound.
After the 5th grade at comprehensive school the girl shifted to home schooling. Afterwards Yulia entered Ukhta branch of the Modern Humanitarian Academy to major in psychology but did not graduate.
Yulia has been into music since early school. At the age of 10 she performed at a charity concert for the first time. This is when the young singer was noticed and invited to the local Palace of Pioneers, where she studied vocal under teacher Svetlana Shirokova.
Yulia Samoylova has already participated in a number of regional and All-Russian musical competitions. The victory at the All-Russian festival "On the Wings of Dream", which took place in Moscow in 2003 became one of the most remarkable achievements in her children's music career.
In 2008 Yulia Samoylova founded a rock band under the name of TerraNova. However it lasted for two years only before breaking up. After that the singer moved to St. Petersburg and applied to the Public Relations Department of St. Petersburg State University but was not a success. Having returned to Ukhta, she opened an advertizing agency. In 2012-2013 Yulia Samoylova participated in the New Ukhta competition and won the Grand Prix.
The girl gained the all-Russian fame after taking part in the Factor A project on the TV channel Russia 1 in 2013. Yulia Samoylova took the 2nd prize at the contest and Alla's Gold Star award from Alla Pugacheva.
In November, 2013 she won Elena Mukhina National Award in the nomination "Unbroken Note" (the award was founded by the Russian Paralympic Committee). In 2014 Yulia Samoylova participated in the opening ceremony of  of the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi and sang the song "Together".
She was among 27 performers who participated in recording of Igor Matviyenko' song "Live" dedicated to the air crash Liner A321 over the Sinai Peninsula in 2016.
Yulia Samoylova has recorded several songs of her own, including "Light", as well as A New Day with lyrics by Konstantin Arsenev and music by Alexander Yakovlev.
