Traveller, ethnographer

Some parts of this professional traveller’s biography sound like excerpts from an adventure novel. The number of Sundakov`s titles, professions, and exotic deeds makes you suspect that he is older than a centenarian. Vitaly Sundakov was born in the USSR on the 7th of October 1957. Now he lives in the Moscow Region despite the numerous proposals to change his citizenship.

Just a few of his achievements and memberships can put many an aspiring adventurer to shame:
- a leader of organization and holding scientific-research, extreme, and adventure expeditions to remote and inaccessible regions of the planet;
- the first professional Russian traveller who added the profession of traveller to the list of world professions;
- president of the Fund of Russian expeditions and travel;
- the founder of the first Soviet and Russian survival school;
- president of the Transnational Association of Survival Schools VITALIS;
- a true member of the Russian Geographic Society;
- a true member of the International centre of mental, moral, and physical revival (France);
- a World Citizen, Cavalier of the Konstantinian Order of St. George;

- a warrior of the primitive tribes Yanomami, Guarani, Asmats, and Dani;
- his Huichol name is Shikeakami, which means a "spiritual grandson of the supreme chieftain".

Constantly risking his life, Vitaly Sundakov has managed to document and collect unique scientific materials while living in communities of such primitive tribes as the Dani, Asmats, Guarani, Huichol, Yanomami, and more than 20 other cultures of peoples of Oceania, South-eastern Asia, Latin America, and the far north.

Vitaly is also:
- an instructor in hand-to-hand fighting, diving, and a driver-examiner;
- a writer and poet, he authored such books as “Life with no danger”, “Tales from the trunk”, “To win a life”, and “Sleeping barbarian”;
- a journalist and author of hundreds of articles and publications;
- a photographer and author of a number of photo exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The sphere of Vitaly`s interests doesn’t include actions of personal prestige, competitive and jubilee projects, popular initiatives of setting original records, and undoubtedly repetition of anybody’s routes. Vitaly Sundakov is a leading expert of various civilizations and magical cultures of the planet. He has organized and participated in more than forty scientific-research expeditions to the most difficult to access regions of the planet.

 The traveller also highly esteems his friendship with famous writers, scientists, sportsmen, TV stars, politicians – with people of all ages, professions, and social classes (from former leaders of the country to elementary school pupils of Siberian provinces). Sundakov can undoubtedly be called one of the symbols of travel and adventures. There are fan clubs of Sundakov in five large cities of Russia. He was also a prototype of the main character for works of some famous writers and cinema scripters.

At the moment Vitaly Sundakov continues working with expedition projects and realization of the international TV-project “The inhabited island of Vitaly Sundakov”.
