November 18, 2018 15:22

Russia has long been famous throughout the world for its ballet, operas, writers and artists, as well as Russian beauties. Nowadays, Russian models and actresses are also gaining success in the West.
1. Svetlana Khodchenkova

It is not enough to be a very good Russian actress to gain fame in Hollywood. You must embody a truly Russian female image for Americans. That is how Svetlana Khodchenkova has become perhaps the most sought-after young actress in Russia (eight new films with her are expected in Russia), and managed to play in British and Hollywood movie hits. In particular, she starred in the spy thriller “Spy, Get Out” based on the novel by John Le Carré, and “Wolverine: The Immortal” - another offshoot of the box-office wonder movie “X-Men”. Soon she will appear in the lead in the American thriller Conspiracy Rising.

2. Yulia Snigir
Yulia Snigir
is also making an enviable career in Hollywood. She has had roles in two blockbusters, namely Die Hard 5 and Freezer. However, in Russian cinema she usually plays in historical dramas. In particular, she played the Russian Empress in Ekaterina II (2015).

It was great luck for Yulia Snigir to co-star with Bruce Willis in A Good Day to Die Hard of course. But that was her role in Dark Planet directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk that opened the door to Hollywood for her. The actress’ modeling experience, and perfect mastery in the English language, as well as years of promotion, also contributed to her success. Without waiting for new major projects, Yulia Snigir recently starred in the Canadian thriller Freezer and the independent American drama Delirium.

3. Ekaterina Rednikova
Beauty Ekaterina Rednikova is considered to be one of the most popular Russian actresses. She gained such fame and recognition with her role in the movie Thief. Soon after that, American film directors got interested in Ekaterina Rednikova. As a result, she starred in the film Death Visa.

4. Kseniya Rappoport
Kseniya Rappoport is obviously the most famous Russian actress in Italy, since she has starred in 7 Italian movies already. Such consistent collaboration with Italian cinematographers started for her with the psychological thriller The Unknown Woman directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. Kseniya Rappoport played the lead in it and won the Italian Oscar, the David Donatello Film Award. The drama film The Double Hour gained her Volpie Cup of the Venice Film Festival. In The Ice Forest, Kseniya Rapoport co-starred with Emir Kusturica.

5. Margarita Levieva
Though born in Leningrad, Margarita Levieva is not widely known in Russia. However, she has played a number of cute roles in Hollywood films, including the social satirical “Noise” with Tim Robbins and the no less social thriller “Lincoln for a Lawyer” with Matthew McConaughey.
