Kirov is a Russian town (since 1936), the administrative center of the Kirov District in the Kaluga Region.
It has the population of 31 039 people (as of 2015).
Kirov is located at the distance of 210 km from Kaluga and 110 km from Bryansk, 40 km from Brest Highway and 50 km from Kiyev Highway.
There is River Bolva and 15 ponds in the territory of the municipal district.
The town of Kirov stretches on the southern slopes of the Smolensk-Moscow Upland on the bank of River Bolva that originates 80 km away from the town. A dam built on River Pesochnya, an influx of Bolva, resulted in Top Reservoir. The water surface of this reservoir is 400 m wide.
The leading enterprises of the disrict are Kirov Ceramics JSC and Kirov Plant JSC are also the oldest industries here. Their production successfully competes with its European analogs and has long been known to numerous consumers in this country and abroad. Majolica ware and souvenirs made here enjoy wide popularity.
