The town of Sertolovo (Finnish Sierattala) is located 6 km away from the Pesochnaya railway station, to the north of St. Petersburg.

The town with the area of 75 sq km has the population of 49.172 people (as of 2013).

The town toponym is of the Baltic-Finnish origin, allegedly formed from the words siro, i.e. “graceful” and talo, i.e. “house”, “estate”.

It was founded in 1936. It was an industrial township from 1977 and got the town status in 1999.
