Tikhvin is a Russian town (from 1773) in the Leningrad Region.
The town with the area of 389 sq. km has the population of 58.459 people (as of 2010).
Tikhvin is located on both banks of the Tikhvinka River (basin of Lake Ladoga).

The town is a major industrial and cultural center and transportation hub.
In the central part of the town there is a preserved ensemble of the Mother of God Tikhvin Monastery (now the Historical and Memorial, Architectural and Art Museum).
