Svetogorsk (aka Enso in Finnish) is an industrial town in Vyborg District of the Leningrad Region.
The town stands on the banks of Vuoksa River in the northern part of the Karelian Isthmus, 210 kilometers away from St. Petersburg. Regarding its geographical position it is the most northern city of the Leningrad Region. It is very close (at the distance of about 7 km only) to Imatra town in Finland.
It is a terminal railway station on a spur from Kamennogorsk (26 km) on the Vyborg - Yanisjyarvi line.
Its area makes 50 sq. km.
The Svetogorsk pulp and paper mill founded in 1887 is one of the largest pulp-and-paper enterprises in Russia. It is located on the Karelian Isthmus and takes about 200 hectares of land.
