The reserve includes Mikhailovskoe, the ancestral estate of the poet’s mother, Trigorskoe estate that belonged to Pushkin’s friends, Petrovskoe estate once owned by the poet’s grandfather, the Pushkins’ necropolis in Svyatogorsky Monastery, and a culture research centre with permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Mikhailovskoe is the poetic motherland of Alexander Pushkin, the place of his coming-to-be a poet. There he lived and created in some of his most prolific years: 1817, 1819, 1824-1826, 1827, 1835 and 1836. There he was laid to rest.

Over seventy monuments of history and culture are located on the territory of the museum. Mikhailovskoe, along with other museum sights of Pushkin Reserve, has become the most prominent museum establishment for propagation of the creative heritage of the great poet.

The Pushkin Poetry Days since 1967 held annually in Mikhailovskoe on the first Sunday of June, close to Alexander Pushkin’s birthday (June 6) have become widely known in Russia and abroad.
