    Bugulma

Bugulma is a Russian city (from 1736), the administrative center of the Bugulma District of Tatarstan (since 1930). It is located in the southeast of the Republic of Tatarstan, at the 300 km distance from Kazan, on the slopes of the Bugulma-Shugur two-level high plateau in the center of Bugulma-Belebey Upland, the eastern part of the East European Plain.

The city with the population of 86 085 people as of 2016 is a large diversified industrial, cultural and scientific center of the republic and a part of the territorial and production complex of the Southeast economic zone and the second city of the polycentric Almetyevsk agglomeration (i.e. Almetyevsk, Bugulma and Leninogorsk).

Awards of Bugulma:

* Gold Medal of UNESCO "Palm of Peace" (2001).

* The 3rd Degree Diploma of the All-Russian contest "The Most Well-Planned City of Russia" among the cities with the population of less than 100 thousand people in 2002.

* Diploma of Honour of the RT Cabinet council for preserving architecturally - historical heritage (2004)

* diploma of Tatarstan Cabinet Council "For Active Work on Enhancement of Architectural Appearance" (2005)

* For successful implementation of the project Clear Water in 2011 Bugulma became the 4th city of Russia included in the Honourable List of the UN-Habitat program.

Sightseeing:

* The A. V. Batalov Bugulma State Russian Drama Theater (founded in 1897);

* The Guest House of Merchant Khakimov — a house with a dome and a spike on the roof, which has became the hallmark of the city. It was constructed by merchant Khakimov in the 19th century . Now it houses the Center of the Tatar Culture;

* Bugulma Museum of Local Lore

* Yaroslav Gashek Literary and Memorial Museum
