    Rostov Region

Rostov Region is world famous for its cultural and folk traditions. It is the region of vast spaces and mighty rivers, the place where the Don River flows into the Azov Sea. Its prominent history and folklore attracts tourists from all over the world. The Rostov Region is the native land of the famous Russian authors Anton Chekhov and Mikhail Sholokhov, the Noble Prize Winner.

The region's rich soil has given birth to some of Russia's finest vineyards, especially those producing sparkling wines. Rostov-on-Don, the capital of the Don region, serves as a base for excursions of historical interest, including several Old Don Cossack forts, the remains of a Genoese trading center and a 3rd century BC Greek colony.
