    Korsakov

Korsakov is a seaport in Russia, the administrative center of the Korsakovsky City District in the Sakhalin Region.

The city with the population of 33 056 people (as of 2016) is located on the shore of Gulf Aniva, at the 42 km distance from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. It has a railway station of the Sakhalin Region of the Far East Railroad.River Korsakovka flows within the city.

The city of Korsakov is equated to the Far North region. It is situated in the zone of monsoonal climate. Summer is usually rainy, whereas winters are cold and clear. The warmest month of the year is August, with the average daytime temperature of +20,5 °C. The coldest month is January, with average night time temperature of −11,9 °C.

Korsakov has a viewpoint that faces beautiful sights of the city, the bay and the sea. It is the road from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk tht leads to the entrance.

* Monument to the admiral Gennady Nevelsky unveiled in July, 2013;

* Korsakov Local History Museum;

* Shootings of the feature films Loaded with Death, Group "D", Your Will, My Lord!, and the TV series Transit for Devil took place in Korsakov in the 1990s.
