The only museum of Mikhail Bulgakov in Russia was opened in May 2004. The museum is located in the house where Mikhail Bulgakov lived in the early 1920s. It is here where the so-called "no good flat" from Master and Margarita was located: Voland and his "crew" took up residence in these apartments.
The museum presents a unique electronic exposition with over 500 photos and documents highlighting life and creation of Mikhail Bulgakov, as well as fragments of films after his works. Among non-electronic exhibits there is a bronze monument of Mikhail Bulgakov and a living big black cat named Kot Begemot after one of the whimsical servants of Voland.
The museum regularly hosts exhibitions of photos, paintings and illustrations inspired by Bulgakov’s books.
