Ardatov is a Russian town (from 1780), the administrative center of the Ardatov District of Mordovia Republic.
The town has the population of 9 thousand people (as of 2014). The Russians make 66,23 per cent and the Mordvinians make 32,12 per cent of the population (as of 2002).
The town stands on the Alatyr River (influx of the Sura River), at the distance of 114 km from Saransk, and 10 km from the Ardatov railway station on the railroad section Krasny Ugol — Kanash of the Gorky railroad.
Earlier it was the center of the Ardatov District of the Simbirsk Province.
