Lyambir is a settlement in the Republic of Mordovia, the administrative center of the Lyambir District since 1933.
It is also the administrative center of the Lyambirs rural settlement, which includes the village of Cheremishevo along with Lyambir.
It has the population of 8457 people (as of 2010), most of them Tatars.
The settlement stands on Lyambirka River, 12 km away from the railway station of Saransk city and 1 km away from the highway Saransk — Nizhny Novgorod.
Lyambir was founded by the Tatars, who arrived for construction of the Saransk Fortress in 1642.
