    Vladikavkaz

Vladikavkaz is a city in the south of Russia, in the central part of the North Caucasus. It is the capital city of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Vladikavkaz is a large industrial, scientific, cultural and educational center. Since 2007 the city has had the honorary title of The City of Military Glory.

Vladikavkaz is the administrative center of the Vladikavkaz city district. It has the population of 307 478 people (as of 2016). Vladikavkaz is one of the largest cities of the North Caucasus Federal District.

The city is located in the North Caucasus, on both banks of River Terek, 30 km away from the Darial Gorge. The Georgian Military Road starts from Vladikavkaz.
