Chernogorsk is a Russian city, the center of the city district in the Republic of Khakassia. It is the second largest city after the capital city of Khakassia. The population of Chernogorsk makes 73 825 people (as of 2015).
In 2014 it was included into the list of monotowns of the Russian Federation with the most complicated economic and social situation.
Chernogorsk is located 16 kilometers to the north of Abakan, in Minusinsk Depression in the northern suburb of the Abakan Steppe, to the south of the Podkuninsky Ridge. The federal Highway P257 "Yenisei" runs along the eastern border of the city.
