Gryazi is a Russian city (from 1938[3]), the administrative center of the Gryazinsky District of the Lipetsk Region. This satellite town of Lipetsk plays the role of a railway junction for dwellers of the regional center. The city stands on River Matyra 20 km to the southeast of Lipetsk. Downtown height above sea level is about 120 m. The population of Gryazi makes 46 289 people (as of 2015).
