“Kinoshock” Open Film Festival of CIS and Baltic countries will move from the outskirts of Anapa to the centre of the city and will be open all year round, as the vice-president of the Film Forum Irina Shevchuk said at a briefing on Tuesday.

The twenty-third “Kinoshock” will be held in Anapa from 21 to 30 September. “This year the festival moves to the sea-front in the city centre from the resort area on the outskirts of Anapa, besides our film festival will be held all year round, because the city has all conditions for this” – Shevchuk said. According to the producer of the Film Festival Vladimir Ignatyev, it is planned to open a museum of “Kinoshock”  in Anapa.

“We were given a good place. There are already some sketches, we will be ready in a month, and the construction will begin. It will be a kind of installation with changing exposition so far” – Ignatyev said. The construction of the cinema complex “Anapa – Expo” in Anapa is also planned, the producer added.

This year the traditional special program “In the limelight stands…” featuring the best films made in the last two years is dedicated to Russian cinema. According to Ignatyev, the program of the contest of feature and short films will be supplemented by a full contest of television movies – “TV Kinoshock”. The organizers of the film festival plan to hold a TV market in Anapa in the spring of 2015. Another innovation of the festival is the audience contest “Kaleidoscope”, the program of the latter will include the best films from each of the former Soviet republics. Some more special programs will be presented at the festival: Omnibus – the program of the cinema yearbook of CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia - and “Cinema on the Square” - the program of successful films of recent years. According to Shevchuk, the program of the contest is not yet fully formed.

The organizing committee of the festival hopes that the Ukrainian filmmakers “will send their films to the contest”, despite the complexity of the political situation. “Hopefully we will not ruin our relationships with Ukraine” – Shevchuk added. “Kinoshock” Open Film Festival of CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia has been held since 1992. The aim of the festival is the identification and professional support of talented filmmakers of CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, their cooperation, as well as promotion of national cinematic art. The festival gives the filmmakers from different countries a unique opportunity for creative dialogue, increases international interest in national cultures and different film schools, opens new names in modern cinema and presents new works by the masters of cinema. The president of the festival is the writer and director Viktor Merezhko.
