November 8, 2014 17:24

The first stage of the All-Russian Initiative on the choice of symbol plants to be set in Sevastopol is completed; the residents of Moscow, according to preliminary estimates, voted for English oak as a symbol of the capital. This is evidenced by the results of the voting posted on the official website of the initiative.

The press service of the “Priroda” (“Nature“) Foundation for Promotion of Environmental Protection confirmed that oak leads in the voting, according to preliminary results. The meeting of the organizing committee announcing the final results of the voting may take place on November 10. “Yes, we are still counting the votes, there are no final results. Moreover, oak and lilac stand, as they say, “head-on”.

Some numbers will be added from “Active Citizen”, and there oak leads by a landslide with a margin of about 80 thousand votes. We can safely say that this plant will be the symbol of Moscow, according to the results of this stage” - the press service said. As it is specified on the initiative’s website, the majority of people - 115 802 – voted for oak, which is 23% of all votes.
