The Supreme Court of Russia has confirmed the exclusive right of Adygea to use the “Circassian (Adygei ) Cheese” brand, denying the cassation appeal of other Russian cheesemakers, as the Head of the Republic’s press service stated.
In June 2017 four producers of Circassian (Adygei) cheese from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Rostov-on-Don, Chuvashia and Bryansk region filed an appeal to the Presidium of the Intellectual Property Court. The cheesemakers appealed against the decision of the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property concerning the possibility of producing Circassian cheese only on the territory of Adygea.
On September 11 of the same year the Presidium of the Intellectual Property Court refused to satisfy the appeal, as “Kavkazsky Uzel” reports.
On January 12, the Supreme Court of Russia refused to submit a cassation appeal for the consideration of the Supreme Court’s board for economic disputes, so that to receive a resolution of the Presidium of the Intellectual Property Court. Thus, the dispute about the exclusive right of Adygea to use the “Circassian (Adygei ) Cheese” brand has been decided, as the message on the website of the Head of the republic goes.
