The City Centre Of Sergiev Posad May Become Pedestrian
January 29, 2018 16:08

The authorities of Sergiev Posad (the Moscow region) are considering the possibility of turning the entire historic city center into a pedestrian zone, Larisa Shalina, acting head of the city planning department, the Sergiev Posad district administration said.

"The central part of the city, perhaps, will become a pedestrian zone. We would really like it," L.Shalina said at the roundtable in the Moscow regional Duma.
A representative of the municipal administration added that the bypass roads that are currently under construction would relieve the Sergiev Posad center from transit transport, which could be the first step in turning the historic part of the city into a pedestrian zone.
According to L.Shalina, giving the center the status of a pedestrian zone will not only increase its attractiveness for tourists, but also increase the comfort of residents.
