Kaliningrad Airport Khrabrovo will Increase the Number of Flights during the World Cup 2018
January 28, 2018 17:32

Kaliningrad airport Khrabrovo received applications from foreign airlines to increase the number of flights during the World Cup 2018, the company's CEO Alexander Korytny told Interfax.

"At the moment, the airport does not have a full picture of how many planes we will be servicing during the World Cup in Kaliningrad, but it is already clear that if today there are 32 arrivals and departures per day in the summer schedule, then on the peak days of June there will be about 50-55, or even more," A.Korytny said.

According to him, such foreign airlines as LOT and airBaltic have already announced the increase in the number of flights to Kaliningrad. The first intends to make 16 additional flights from Warsaw in Khrabrovo, and the second - at least five flights from Riga.

"It is possible that in the near future, other foreign airlines will also come to us with questions about the charters from the countries, whose national teams will play in Kaliningrad. So today we  have received notifications about planned business jets during the World Cup. The applications came from Switzerland, Belgium, and I am sure that this list will increase," A.Korytny said, adding that Russian airlines will be able to increase the number of their flights during this period.
The general director also noted that on the days of the World Cup, the reconstructed Khrabrovo airport will operate in an enhanced mode and will be able to adequately handle all arriving and departing flights.
Within the framework of the 2018 World Cup in Kaliningrad, four games will be held in the stadium with 35,000 spectators: on June 16, Nigeria will play against Croatia, on the 22nd - Serbia and Switzerland, on the 25th - Spain with Morocco and on the 28th - England against Belgium .
In 2017 Khrabrovo served 1,780 million people.
